Lighting Work Shop - Main Task - Film Noir

In film Noir only one light is used at a time.

All videos use some sort of light, whether it be natural light (sun) or artificial light. The goal of the video lighting is to choose the best source(s) to achieve your goal. First and foremost you need enough light and you need to be able to identify sources.

Natural Light causes shadows. Film Noir must have shadows.

1st thing to do - Identify which source(s) of light you want to use.

What sort of mood the movie is, relates to the lighting.

- Never use a lighting kit without surge protectors
- Never change the bulb
- Work at height (your working height level)
- Do not shake the red head
- Power lead has to hang down from the red head
- Make sure the barn door is level with leg
- Never use lights outside
-Surge protectors press yellow, red then yellow button
Never use an extension lead
- Just when you re about to turn the lights on shout "don't look in to the lights"
- The light needs to be at least 1m away from the roof
- If you can put your hand on the red head for more than 5 seconds, you re ready to pack the kit away
