They offer a wide variety of different shots:
- Dolly
-Tracking Shot
-Pedestal
-Pan
-Tilt
-Roll
These shots are used most effectively using a tripod because they all involve a lot of movement.
Considered a vital piece of equipment, tripods are also used to get stable and professional looking shots.Without a tripod, shots could look unbalanced and cheap. It provides the camera man with the stability needed to execute the shots needed with a quality standard.
A hugely important part of making films is using a multi camera setup, as it offers a slick and professional look to the film, it allows the film to have the most effective and dramatic scenes when possible. Furthermore, it's a huge time saver as it shoots a scene from 3 different angles. This can save up to hours of extra filming time.
When I filmed my first movie 'The Chase', a tripod was not used and throughout the entire film it was shaky and looked unprofessional. During the filming of 'Year 12 Preliminary Task - Mistakes', a multi camera setup was used with tripods. The quality was a lot higher and had a more professional feel to it. I will remember to use both of these in all my future films to improve them and hopefully achieve a professional look.
